My right hand man Nathan did the service one today on my Mirage; Amsoil Signature 0w20, an extended life filter and basic inspection. So he decided to bring a quick welding project he did to show me. He welded for a living for some time and hadn’t messed with it in a bit.

Having just picked up my new beloved iPhone X just yesterday I decided to take my first pictures. Don’t mind the different styles (2 portrait and two macro) as I was feeling it out in low lighting.

He’s overly modest, and a serious OCD perfectionist, so of course he wasn’t perfectly happy. I personally was very very impressed and he’s right back in a groove. He will be fabricating the manifold for my DSM, this one to be exact.

Oh how I can’t wait to drive her again. It’ll be even better with a 6466 and a custom home-brew Nathan spec manifold and bumper exit!

Nothing wrong with that at all. I’ve had every one from the 4 and up. I love the look of the 5s/se and did enjoy my green 5c. Bigger phones are great though since I like to watch YouTube on my break while at work.

I went from an SE to an X last April, I love all the features of the X but still really miss the form factor of the SE. If the XR has been SE sized I’d be seriously considering it today.

I said that I’d never get a big phone. And now I have an s9+ and it’s glorious. I could have my battery last 2 days if I was even slightly careful.

I can see how he wouldn’t be happy with that weld. B ut for not doing it in a while, it’s very good.

Hold up... 4G63 ?

Sooooooo, what’s your budget? I mean, the manifold is sort of the easy part. But the 4G63's a bit of an odd duck in that it takes to injector stacking like a duck to water. And also VNT/VGT. You want a VGT setup. You really do. Not the 6466 crap. (Gods, the number of complete fucking idiots that got labeled as experts on these cars just for bolting crap on .  You know. Because these didn’t have enough lag as is. )

Yes it’s a 4g63. And no VGT isn’t my thing. It’s finicky and has no place on a drag focused car.

Also I sincerely hope you aren’t labeling me a “complete fucking idiot for bolting stuff on” because I’ve been in the DSM game for 15 years. There’s been over 10-15 wild DSM builds built in his garage, including the one with over 500 pump gas horsepower sitting in the garage right this very second.

As for lag, no I don’t care about lag. If you’re worried about turbo lag in a max effort street/drag car you’ve already missed the plot.

Same, he’s a perfectionist. Within a week or two it’ll be without flaw lol. I’ll be proud to rock some of his fab stuff on the Talon without a doubt.

No, a comment on all the idiots that just randomly bolt the biggest turbo they can cram in there. Or, my personal favorite, “turn up the boost!! It’ll be fine!!” Which is a big part of why everyone believes the 4G63 needs a leash on the crank.

S pouting “BLAH BLAH I BUILD 500HP PUMP GAS” at me tells me nothing. So what? Any jerk can build “500HP” that is completely unusable on the street, lasts 5, 6, 8 passes, and then grenades. And t here’s plenty of long running shops (coughcough-HENNESSEY-coughcough) that couldn’t find their ass with both hands, a map, and somebody paying them to find it.

VGT is not finicky when built properly either . Period. Not an opinion, an absolute statement of fact. It is also a statement of fact that there’s maybe... 6 or 7 people in the country not at a manufacturer that know how to build VNT/VGT . (And I don’t consider myself one of them, because my work is based off knowing OE systems .) And if there’s more than 3 shops that can rebuild the CHRAs? Gimme the number of the 4th one. Especially since one of them isn’t doing it any more.

But no. VGT isn’t really appropriate for drag where you’re not dropping out of boost. Personally I find drag boring as hell though, and there’s really no actual challenge to it , so I really don’t do those sort of builds.

The builds absolutely can last. I have a friend pushing over 800 on a stock six bolt that’s been together a decade. Also saying drag racing isn’t a challenge speaks volumes on your inexperience.
